Hunter Innovation Festival
Established in 2002, the Hunter Innovation Festival began as an associated event of The Australian Innovation Festival, a national event that showcased Australian innovation. The festival has evolved since 2002, but at its core, the festival remains a collaboration that brings together people from throughout the community to meet, be inspired, learn and share ideas. Each year, the festival is made possible by the dedication and hard work of those who participate in the local innovation ecosystem.
Today’s festival is managed by local innovation not-for-profit organisation Hunter iF Limited. Hunter iF collaborates with a range of organisations dedicated to creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship in the Hunter region. The 2023 Festival will consist of the roadshow, conference, showcase and action summit from October 9th to 26th, and will take place at various locations throughout the region.
The festival aims to inspire and promote a culture of innovation amongst Hunter businesses, researchers, industry and the wider community to help position the Hunter region as an internationally recognised centre for innovation.

Hunter Circular Presents International Insights for a Circular Hunter
This exciting event will feature Nicole Garofano (Planet Ark’s ACE Hub), Annie Jiang (Go Circular) and Eloise Lobsey (Hunter Joint Organisation), who have explored innovative circular solutions on an international scale.
Our esteemed speakers will be sharing their firsthand experiences, lessons, and best practices from this forum, offering valuable insights into the global circular economy landscape and its potential application in the Hunter region.
As we delve into the future of sustainability and circularity, we will be officially launching the Hunter Circular Hub – an online platform designed to promote cross-sector collaboration – and highlighting real-world applications of circular principles through interactive stalls showcasing innovative circular economy initiatives.
Join us to find out how the Hunter can unlock new possibilities, generate economic growth, and build a more resilient and regenerative region.

Circular Essentials Information Session
Join us for an Information session where you will learn about the upcoming 2024 edition of Circular Essentials, a business-oriented program to improve circularity through the development of a specific tailored roadmap for your activity.
Hume has been on a four-year journey to seed development of a circular city – an initiative which creates business opportunities, encourages industry collaboration and enhances competitive advantage of Hume businesses.
For the fourth year, Hume is running a capacity building program called Circular Essentials 2024.
The program entails four weeks of online content (designed to make the experience enjoyable and hassle free), followed by two in person workshops that will help you apply content from the program to create your very own circular business strategies. You will exit the program with a circular business strategy for your company.

Inaugural Circular Economy Research Network Conference 2023
The Circular Economy Research Network of the Asia-Pacific (CERN-APac) is delighted to announce our inaugural conference, to feature well-known sustainability experts including former Deputy Victorian Premier Prof John Thwaites.
The 2023 conference will facilitate collaborations between researchers and industry, community, and government representatives to plan for how research can help address prioritised circular economy challenges.
