Aleasha McCallion

Monash Sustainable Development Institute

As Strategic Projects Manager MSDI, Aleasha is responsible for all aspects of high-level project management to achieve strategic project outcomes. In her role she works closely with the Director, MSDI, the MSDI Executive, external stakeholders and colleagues across Monash to support the implementation of the five-year MSDI Strategy, as well as other strategic projects with government, business, civil society and/or the community in partnership with the academic sector to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Through MSDI's Collaboration Fund program in 2019, Aleasha and colleagues co-founded the Circular Economy Textiles Program which is investigating what is required to transition the textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) industry in Australia to a circular economy model. Aleasha has worked in the fashion industry for more than 15 years and holds a Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) from RMIT and a Bachelor's of Home Economics (Consumer Textiles) from UBC. Aleasha's career encompasses fashion retail and operations management, buying, styling and sustainable fashion design, as well as teaching ethical and sustainable fashion business. Aleasha sees the collective interdisciplinary expertise and capability as critical to tackling the sustainability challenges facing the global textiles sector.
